What is HRM and how does it relate to me?

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the function within an organization that focuses on recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for the people who work in the organization.

Human Resource Management is the organizational function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training.

HRM relates to me because I am employed by and work in an organization.  By understanding the issues related to HRM and the relationships that exist in the workplace between managers, coworkers, and the employee it should make for a more productive and positive working experience.  It is the people that make up a business.  Our understanding of HRM will improve the outcome of the goals, desires, and performance of people, groups, and organizations.
